Pre-Purchase Survey

Whether you are buying or selling a vessel, obtaining a pre-purchase survey is a crucial step in the pre-purchase, pre-sale process. This survey is the most thorough one that a surveyor will conduct. In this assessment, the surveyor examines the vessel's structural integrity, along with the AC and DC electrical systems, and provides a detailed evaluation of any mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, water, and propulsion systems to the greatest extent possible. Additionally, conducting a sea trial is also a significant aspect of a purchase, and it's wise to involve someone who does not have any emotional attachment to the transaction.

Condition and Valuation Survey

Your insurance provider or another authority may stipulate a Condition and Valuation survey to assess the current condition and market value of your vessel. This survey will concentrate on safety and the systems aboard your boat, ensuring overall condition and adherence to USCG, NFPA, and ABYC standards. The role of a surveyor is to ensure that your boat is safe for operation and qualifies as an insurable asset rather than a liability for an insurance provider.

Appraisal Survey

An appraisal is similar to a Condition and Valuation survey. A financial institution might seek to confirm the worth of an asset if it is to be used as collateral. Appraisal surveys may also be required for certain legal matters.

Commercial Fishing Boat

Surveys of fishing vessels involve Condition and Valuation assessments, focusing on the various systems present in a commercial fishing vessel. The evaluations will include tank layouts, refrigeration systems, hydraulic gear, and deck machinery.
